Metropolitan Nuuk.

Experience Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, where modern art, architecture and gastronomy are constantly evolving in the face of magnificent nature. Our guests rave about the tranquil atmosphere they find here – even if it’s just for a few days.

Fjord sailing in Nuuk, catch your own fish, eat at Restaurant Qooqqut Nuan.

An hour’s sail from Nuuk, chef Mads Bek and his wife have created a cozy restaurant in the beautiful countryside, where they create delicious dishes – including the fish you caught on the way here. Read more about boat trips and the nature around Nuuk.

Sisimiut, Greenland’s 2nd largest city.

Sisimiut has a vast hinterland of mighty nature. Staying at the family-owned Hotel Sisimiut gives you views of mountains and hiking trails. The hotel has its own restaurant, and outside on the terrace you can end the day in the hot tub with a view of the sky, followed by a sauna.

Close to the Greenlandic sled dog in Sisimiut.

At Qimmerqarfik, near Sisimiut, you’ll get up close to the Greenlandic sled dogs and learn about their history, traditions and life with them. The pure genetic terms of dogs have remained largely unchanged over the last thousand years, and you can feel like you’re meeting the wolf in them when you get close to them.

At Qimmerqarfik you have the unique opportunity to get close to the Greenlandic sled dogs. If puppies have arrived in the litter, it may even be possible to hold a little puppy in your arms.

Whale watching; an encounter with the majesty of the sea.

The silence out on the open water, suddenly broken by a huge splash as a whale breaks the surface of the sea, we think is just as amazing – every time! Take a boat trip off the coast of Sisimiut, experience the beautiful nature and be seduced by the sight of whales along the way. Read more about the whales in Greenland.

Kangerlussuaq; the ice sheet, the Russel Glacier and tundra wildlife.

Kangerlussuaq is one of the best places in the world to experience the majestic ice sheet. A drive from the town brings you to the edge of the enormous ice mass that covers most of Greenland.
Walking on the ice sheet is like stepping into another world – a frozen time capsule of ice – thousands of years old. The silence, the glittering ice crystals and the sweeping views give a sense of awe that is hard to explain. The silence feels “nice”, close to what some call “the beating heart of Greenland.” Meet the greatest majesty.

There is a peace here that I haven’t found anywhere else – Marianne, traveler with Travel by Heart – Greenland.
