I was born in Denmark but have lived in Nuuk since 1987, and I speak Danish, English and Greenlandic. After 22 years in the travel industry, 2019 was the year I started my own travel agency Travel By Heart - Greenland, because I wanted to tailor travel to my customers' specific wishes. Since then, it's been full steam ahead. Every day I notice how more people turn to Greenland when creating new memories. This applies both to those who already live here and those who come from far away. And I understand that. Greenland's stark contrasts; the spectacular nature against the colorful houses, the history that exudes in the people, the hospitality and cooperation between us who live here, is something special.
I have ties to Denmark, where I grew up, to Greenland, where my grandmother is from and where I lived for a number of years, and to England, where I currently live with my family. I speak English, Danish, Swedish and Norwegian. For the past 20 years I have worked and traveled with the travel industry to remote destinations. As a travel agent, Greenland is, for me, a dream destination to create trips to. You only realize how raw and how beautiful it is once you've tried it. And not even there are words to describe the beauty. Today, working with Greenland, which is so close to my heart and heritage, is a daily gift.
I was born and raised in Greenland and live in Qaqortoq, South Greenland, which is why the area is also my specialty. I speak Greenlandic, Danish and English. As the former owner of my own travel agency, ULU Travel, I have more than 17 years of experience helping travelers. I like being a tourist in my own country. Greenland is so diverse. You can feel small by Ilulissat's enormous icebergs and feel the grandeur of life overlooking the mountains of South Greenland. My mantra is "take it as it comes" when traveling in Greenland. Storm ice can close in and storms can rage. But, in an instant, it can be over, just like it started. This makes traveling in Greenland special; an opportunity to celebrate the moment.
